GIS Day

The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) is, this month, hosting senior scientist from the Geoscience Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE). They are in the region to build capacity in the use of Earth Observation (EO) data for research and decision making.

Kenyatta University is one of the three institutions in the region identified by RCMRD to benefit from a two day training workshop by the GRSS and IEEE Scientists. The training will mainly target research capacity building based on use of Lidar, SAR and Microwave satellite sensors which are some of the EO data sets (See attached Training programme).

RCMRD in collaboration with GRSS and IEEE will conduct the training workshop on the mentioned EO data sets for research from 29th to 30th September 2016 at Kenyatta University’s ArcGIS GIS lab (EF03) at 844. Kenyatta University will facilitate you during the training for the two days. To make sure that you benefit from the training we will be carrying out a refresher training on ENVI, the main remote sensing software on 28th Sept from 9:00-1:00 at your own interest. W highly encourage you to keep yourself up to speed.

The main training on 29th and 30th will accommodate 40 participants and we request you to acknowledge receipt and acceptance to participate in the training. We will accommodate you on first come first served basis (thus reduce the attached list to 40). With your background in GIS and remote sensing you will find this training highly beneficial and we look forward to your participation and interaction with the RCMRD, GRSS, IEEE Researchers visiting us.
