PROJECT COORDINATOR

The Enhancing Community Food Security in Urban and Rural Areas through Outreach Youth Champions (EFSOYC) project hosted by Kenyatta University is seeking to engage a project coordinator. The goal of the EFSOYC project is to enhance food security and improve livelihoods in the urban and rural areas through Agri- enterprise initiatives targeting the most food insecure farming households using OYC. In pursuit of SDG 2, the Kenya Government Big Four Agenda on food security and the Science, Technology, Innovation Strategy for Africa (STISA-2024) priority area on eradication of hunger and achieving food security, the project will adopt an innovative and participatory approach to contribute to enhancement of food security. This pilot project will leverage on the potential of youth drawn from Kenyatta University to drive food security efforts in their local communities by using an Outreach Youth Champions (OYC) model and existing community organizations.

Qualifications:
1.  Diploma from a recognized institution
2. Should be below 35 years of age.
Additional Qualifications:
1. At least three (3) years relevant post qualification work experience in managing resources, handling logistics, report writing and record keeping.
2. Ability to work and deliver outputs within strict deadlines.
3. An organized approach and excellent time management skills.
4. Strong communication skills(verbal and written)
5. Ability to work well as part of a team with people from diverse backgrounds
6. Computer literacy and good keyboard skills.
7. Good numeracy skills
8. Accuracy and attention to details
9. Experience in working with Kenyatta University Donor Funded Project will be an added advantage.

1. Vacancy with BRECcIA: Postdoctoral Research Assistant (PDRA) on Research Policy Analysis for Kenya, Malawi and Ghana (1 Position)

The Building Research Capacity for sustainable water and food security insub-Saharan Africa (BRECcIA) project; (see www.gcrf-breccia.com)is led by the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom and partners with five Universities located in three countries (Malawi, Kenya and Ghana), and partnerships with 8 international organizations, working on research and capacity development in the coupled areas of water and food security. The 4 year project is part of the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) RCUK Collective Fund “Growing Research Capability to Meet the Challenges Faced by Developing Countries”programme which is ‘one of the most ambitious international research programmes created; with £225 million being invested across 37 interdisciplinary projects’ to address a range of global development challenges.
The overall objective of the proposed work is to strengthen research capacity and capabilities in institutions in three Sub-Saharan African countries to carry out impactful research that leads to positive policy/practice change for sustainable water and food security, and to ensure that this capacity is sustained and propagated throughout and after the project.

  • At least seven (7) years relevant practical work experience at Senior Managerial Position at a large institution.
  • Proven knowledge and work experience in Computerized Accounting Systems (ACCPAC, SUN System, FIDELIO) as applied in public sector accounting.
  • Be familiar with all aspects of Public Finance such as Budgeting, Project Accounting,Student Finance, Fixed Asset Management.

2.Principal Pensions Officer – Grade 14

  • Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Option)
  • Holder of CPA (K).
  • Membership in Pensions Management Institute or Chartered Insurance Institute
  • Minimum five (5) years relevant experience in pensions administration or pensions consultancy or in a related role such as accountancy, actuarial work or investment
  • management.
  • MBA Degree area will be an added advantage.

3.Accountant – Grade 11

  • KCSE C+ (plus) and above or equivalent
  • Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Option)
  • Holder of CPA (K).
  • At least three (3) years relevant practical work experience as an assistant accountant (Grade E/F) or an equivalent position.

D.DIRECTORATE OF UNIVERSITY HEALTH SERVICES

1.Registered Clinical Officer

  • KCSE mean grade C + (Plus) and above or equivalent
  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or Clinical Medicine and Community Health from Recognized institution.
  • At least three (3) years relevant work experience in a busy and relevant work environment.
  • Registered member of the Clinical Officers Council
  • Possess a valid practicing license from the Clinical Officers’ Council

  • Promoting and Marketing the University as a brand.

2. REGISTRAR – ADMINISTRATION
Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Be a holder of an earned Ph.D. degree or equivalent from a reputable University.
  • Must be at least a Senior Lecturer.
  • Have a good internationally recognized scholarly record.

  • Must have outstanding professional competence in Administration or Management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
While reporting to Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration);

  • Coordinate the functions of the heads of administrative sections in the division.
  • In liaison with the Human Resource Manager organize and coordinate recruitment, deployment and development of all administrative staff.
  • In liaison with the Human Resource Manager Advice management on matters related to labor relations, union matters, promotions, discipline, employee services and general staff welfare.
  • Establish and maintain workable systems for regular monitoring and evaluation of the employee performance, quality, relevance and efficiency.
  • Oversee performance contracting, measurement, monitoring and reporting, staff performance appraisal and reward management.
  • Oversee fleet planning and control transport services including vehicle allocation, insurance, maintenance and servicing.
  • Provide innovative and creative leadership in the areas of Catering Services, ICT services and Staff housing.
  • Coordinate legal matters and security services.
  • Perform any other duties as delegated and assigned from time to time

TERMS OF SERVICE:
The terms of Service for registrar positions is a four (4) year renewable contract subject to satisfactory performance.
A competitive remuneration package which includes basic salary, generous house allowance, medical cover as per University Scheme, Leave allowance and Official transport will be offered.
