EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
Background
The Department of spatial and Environmental Planning in the School of Engineering and Architecture and the Academy of Art and Design, Stuttgart, Germany, through a signed MoU offers opportunity for summer school academic exchange programme that allows students from Kenyatta University to interact and learn with colleagues in Germany. One of the objectives of the MoU is preparation of joint urban design teaching projects in the context of sub-Saharan urbanization challenges and related new emerging urban phenomena. The 2025 summer school that will be held in Stuttgart, Germany starting April/ May 2025 will focus on designing for poor urban communities.
Qualification criteria
Masters students registered in Kenyatta University and taking a relevant post-graduate degree with a background in urban planning, environmental planning or urban design. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview in September 2024 and successful candidates will participate in a 4-month summer school in Stuttgart, Germany starting April/May 2025.
Please note
- A stipend of 3800 Euros covering the four months stay will be provided upon arrival in Germany.
- Qualified and selected students will be required to pay their travel costs and a deposit for the boarding house in advance.
Submission requirement
- Proof of registration in a relevant Master’s degree at Kenyatta University
- Letter of expression of interest
- Two page CV
- Portfolio of relevant previous studio or professional work
