KU-HNU-DAAD Project

Prof. Bayer, Hochschule Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences, Vice Chancellor Kenyatta University Prof. Paul K. Wainaina and Dr. Manu Chandaria, Chairman Chandaria Foundation with other guests  during the Kick-off Meeting of the KU-HNU-DAAD Project on 3rd May 2017;


The project involves capacity building of lecturers and instructors who will later be instrumental in the contextualization of innovation and entrepreneurship into the respective school’s programmes.

A total of 25 lecturers from the four (4) schools will be trained in Germany over the next 4 years under the training of trainers programme. After the training, the lecturers together with the team from Chandaria BIIC will work to support student projects (students will form teams of two each that includes scientist/ engineer and a business student). This student project will be developed into a start-up and presented in an investor conference slated for 16th November 2017, where funding up to Euros. 8,000 is available.


The four-year project has the following outcomes for the partnering universities:

(a) Kenyatta University
1. Strengthening and improvement of the capabilities, the quality and the market orientation of the existing education programmes
2. Improvement of the breadth and depth of education and support offerings for graduating and graduated students at the Chandaria Business Innovation and Incubation Centre

(b) Hochschule Neu-Ulm University
1. Strengthening and operationalization of the newly established partnership with Kenyatta University (first MoU signed March 2016)
2. Improvement of the positioning of HNU in Eastern Africa as a practice- oriented partner for the support and improvement of local and regional development projects driven by African partner universities
